Below is the petition we plan on delivering to our elected officials and city planning to tell them what we think about high-rises in our neighborhoods. If you agree with our petition and are willing to put your name on it, please fill out the form directly under the petition.

The Petition

We are citizens concerned about Sacramento and the City of Los Angeles and their intentions to force high-rise density housing in low density communities (R-1, RSO, HPOZ, coastal zone) when other sites are available. Equally objectionable is their projected demand for 300% housing growth in Los Angeles, which is not in line with the California outmigration and declining population trends.

We are especially concerned about inadequate outreach and notice to neighbors about recently passed laws and imminent housing element and community plan changes at the city level.

Specifically:

  • I do not agree with high rise density housing in low density R-1 neighborhoods. R-1 neighborhoods are already subject to ADU and SB-9 density development. Mature R-1 neighborhoods are decades in the making and should be protected as a viable housing alternative until such time as there is nowhere else to build.
    .
  • I do not agree with the conversion of du/tri/four/plex to high density housing. Most of these units have owner residents who could not afford a single family home but were able to swing a multiunit dwelling with a yard for their families and their renters. They are the very “missing middle” homeowners and we need more opportunities for them not less.

  • I do not support ANY development that does not provide for the minimal green space as described by the NIH for healthy communities. Westchester is now at 0.7 acres/1000 people and the plan must provide for the minimum of 5 acres/1000 that the city mandates.

  • I agree to the above. I agree to communications with organizers.
